SoCal Indie Edge
I'm sure you all remember the Domino magazine that featured the home of Mark and Sunrise Ruffalo. I revisited the article this morning when I was trying to remember who makes her ridiculously cool vanity. It turns out that the vanity is vintage, from the 70's, and isn't credited to anyone although I was able to find one similar to it on 1stdibs. Sunrise, a jewelry designer, sought help to pull the house together from friend and interior designer Amy Kehoe of LA based design firm Nickey Kehoe. With Amy's help, Sunrise was able to mesh all the antique furniture and contemporary art that she had collected through the years. The result is an ultra hip house that exemplifies the laid back, eclectic vibe for which Southern California is known. It almost makes me miss that smoggy, traffic ridden place. Just kidding...I heart LA. I also heart this house!

The Arne Norell chair and ottoman in the bedroom are pretty fantastic as well.

The Digital Age
If you had told me last year that I would read my magazines online I probably would have been appalled by such an accusation. How on earth would I live without being able to rip pages of beautiful things out of my magazines and tack them up all over my office like wallpaper? I was a skeptic at first. I love my magazines. LOVE. But as the third issue of Lonny Magazine has hit the cyber news stands and now there is Nesting Newbies, I have to admit that I am hooked. The days of balancing my computer and magazine on my lap so I can quickly bookmark new sources are gone. Now one can simply click directly on the item you like and get whisked away to it's source for purchase. It's genius, really. Check out the new Nesting Newbies magazine...it has features on design trio Massucco Warner Miller as well as LA based designer Vanessa De Vargas of Turquoise...I think you will be a convert too.
Fall Favorites
I have been scouring Style.com this past week to check out all of the dreamy fashion for this upcoming Fall. It seems hem lines aren't coming down any time soon so keep your tights handy this year. Other recurring trends I noticed are draping, embellishments, shimmery and flowing fabrics and fur trim. I still haven't seen all the shows, but here are some looks I love from my favorite designers...
These two looks are from DVF. You can always count on her for some fabulous colorful prints.
Erin Fetherston never disappoints with her feminine fabrics and silhouettes. I love the thick black framed "nerd" glasses she sent down the runway too.
Marc Jacobs knows how to make a coat. The bolero is to die for!
I love the vintage vibe of the animal print jacket at Rebecca Taylor. The delicate detailing on the gray mini is gorgeous.
Chris Benz collection had a modern Mad Men feel to it that is really current and sexy.
Doo.Ri carried the neutrals we will be wearing a ton of this Summer into the Fall. The gray and tan combo is very chic.
Tracy Reese knows how to make a dress that fits and flatters a woman's body. I love these three girly looks!

Palermo's Apartment
I have been drowning in work the past couple days and haven't had time for a proper post. To keep the momentum going, here is a little peek inside Olivia Palermo's apartment courtesy of Page Six Magazine....
How fabulous is that vintage Hermes tray on the coffee table? The latest issue of Lonny Magazine features a home designed by Betsey Burnham in which she uses an Hermes tray atop the coffee table as well. I love the punch of orange that it adds to the room!

RIP Alexander McQueen
Alexander McQueen was a visionary designer who changed the fashion industry. NY Fashion Week is undoubtedly missing this shining star.

Dreaming of Dressing Rooms
I don't know a single girl in this world who wouldn't do some questionable things to have a gorgeous dressing room all her own. The idea of a dressing room is just so luxurious. An entire room dedicated to dressing. It actually seems a little ridiculous when you think about it, but that doesn't keep me from fantasizing about how I would design mine. My personal requirements are to have a something mirrored, something pink, something crystal, and something (or a lot of something's) old. I'm sure I would have to throw in some functionality for good measure, but dreams aren't about functionality, so we will leave that on the back burner for now. Here are some images of my favorite super stylish dressing rooms...
