What Can't Garance Do?

Here's a little eye candy for the day. Garance Dore is my hero. She basically follows fashion events around the world like surfers in Endless Summer. Besides taking breathtaking photographs she is also a remarkably talented illustrator. What can't she do? I'm in love with these...

Look of the Day

This is my favorite look from the Elizabeth & James Fall 2010 collection. I love the belted, high-waisted, Starry Night looking skirt. Isn't it cute!?

Favorite Fall Basics

Loeffler Randall has long been one of my favorite lines, primarily because they make the absolute best basics but always with a super stylish twist. The quality of the craftsmanship and attention to detail are superb. I already own a couple pairs to LR boots and I can attest that they are the best boots I have owned...which means a lot as I have a bit of boot fetish. Let's just say I've done a lot of field testing. Fall and Winter here in San Francisco are characterized by bone chilling wind, fog and rain so boots and coats are a must. Let's be honest, that also describes Spring and Summer, which makes my picks for the best Fall basics even more relevant...

Rikshaw Love

About a week ago I went to an event at Trove in Berkeley that was put on by Ruby Press. It was so much fun and I was able to meet one of my bloggy friends Katie (The Neo Traditionalist). Katie and the Ruby Press girls were all sporting the cutest block printed tunics from Rikshaw Design. I love how Katie styled hers with a vest, long strands of pearls an an adorable flower pin (Emerson Made?). Catherine at Rikshaw is offering a special coupon on these tunics today, so make sure you go by her blog *here* for more details. I'm getting the red one...so excited!

I. Want.

Aren't these disc string lights from Portland based Pigeon Toe Ceramics great? They are made to order and you can customize the interior color of the disc shade. There is something so appealing about purchasing a handmade item. You really can tell the difference in quality and there is something really special about each piece as no two are exactly alike. They would look really cute out on my deck!

Girl Crush: Lindsey Belle

I was introduced to the photography of the adorable Lindsey Belle awhile back and have been obsessed ever since. Her work is really diverse ranging from arty fashion shots to wedding and portrait photographs. I love them all, but I think my favorite are the ones she takes out and about in NYC. She manages to really capture the culture and charm of the city. She is also the one responsible for the to-die-for Hunter Dixon look books. She seems like such a doll and I hope that one day maybe I will get the opportunity to work with her! The wedding ship has sailed for me but maybe someday another occasion will require her services...or maybe some head shots for the blog or business? Anywho, I was reading the "about" section on her website and this is what she has to say about herself:

I love to photogragh incredible people.
I love laughing really loud.
I love new friends.
I love sunflare.
I love red licorice.
I love swimming in the ocean with phosphorescents.
I love huckleberries.
I love to dance.
I love the summer.
I love Hunter Dixon clothes.
I love to eat McDonald's hamburgers with french fries inside!
I love picking the lint out of the dryer.
I love Vancouver.
I love yoga.
I love New York City.
I love my family, friends, and my husband Michael.
I love cold Chinese food, Hawaiian pizza, and homemade chocolate cake in the morning for breakfast.
I love meeting new people.

I too get a strange pleasure out of cleaning the lint out of the dryer and have been known to put fries inside a hamburger, so I know we would hit it off! Enjoy some of Lindsey's work and make sure you check out her website by clicking *here*. Happy Wednesday!

Bon Voyage!

We are heading off to San Diego for the weekend to attend a wedding and hopefully enjoy some beach time. It's been such a crummy summer here in SF that I'm definitely craving some sunshine and a little dose of SoCal to lift the spirits. Have a wonderful weekend! Ciao.

La-La-Lanvin

A friend sent me the link to Cintra Wilson's Critical Shopper column that reviewed the new Lanvin boutique on Madison Avenue. Click *here* to read it. Firstly, thank god Cintra is back. We had all heard she was no longer doing the Critical Shopper column and it was a big hit for all of her devoted followers who look forward to her sharp-tongued, insightful and all around hysterical reviews. Secondly, she raves about the interiors of the store. I couldn't help but try and find some interior images to accompany the review. Cintra notes that the boutique feels quite intimate and lived-in considering how much merchandise is on the floor and the fact that it has only been open for a month. She remarks, "One gets the ticklish, voyeuristic feeling of being a teenager, trespassing in a rich, eccentric Parisian aunt's intensely personal wonderland of a walk-in closet." Well, I couldn't possibly come up with a better description, so I think I'll leave it at that.  I found some gorgeous shots of the boutique and have posted them below. Enjoy!

Big Daddy's Antiques: San Francisco

One of my favorite antique stores to visit when I'm down in LA is Big Daddy's Antiques, so I was really excited to hear they were opening a warehouse showroom here in San Francisco. The doors officially opened today, but I was told there will be a big grand opening/cocktail party in the near future and I'll keep you posted on that. Make sure you swing by to see it for yourself, but until then hopefully some of my iphone photos will tide you over...

Brooke Gregson Jewelry

Don't you want one of everything? I do. I had the opportunity to see these (and many more) in person at Brooke's studio in London and I can tell you she is one incredibly talented lady. Her designs mix precious and semi precious stones including diamonds, moonstone, opals and labradorite among others. These stones are combined with various metals and materials like gold and silk. All of her jewelry is beautifully designed, lovingly hand-made and are both earthy and elegant. I picked up her love knot ring and a labradorite pendant necklace which I have been wearing non-stop. I find her pieces to be classic and really versatile. They shift flawlessly from day to night and are the perfect punctuation to any outfit. Brooke Gregson's jewelry is available in the States through Broken English in Santa Monica.
